Abstract
The article discusses ethical, legal, and social implication associated with fecal microbiota transplant (FMT). Topics discussed include information on effects of FMT such as changes in mood and behavior, hormonal shifts, weight gain; systemic role for the microbiota of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract; and use of operationalizing no maleficence in maintenance of an FMT registry, an initiative that has been launched by the American Gastroenterological Association.
