I plan to have a group of men/women four to five each session. We would discuss the following:
A) How to become eligible for College Athletics
B) What are the odds of a high school athlete participating in College Athletics
C) How parents can support their son's athletic endeavors
D) Parent/Coach Relationships
E) Preparing for life after Sports
Lastly, we want to have some dialogue on putting sports in its proper prospective
I would act as a moderator:
CHRIS DENNIS- Worked in the sports management industry for 25 years. Assisted over 40 athletes in getting them into a college sports. Renown in the Akron Community for mentoring and sharing experience in order to inspire and provide hope to our youth through sports.
Panelist would include the following:
TRAVIS BENJAMIN- Currently plays for the Cleveland Browns and working on his degree in Sports Management from University of Miami
SONNY JOHNSON- Currently Head Basketball at Garfield Hgts High School. Has put over (70) players in college former Mr. Basketball. Graduate of Ohio University
CHET MASON- European Pro basketball Player from inner city Cleveland that has a degree in Business from Miami University
DANNY YOUNG- Currently Head Basketball Coach and Principal in Shaker Hgts, a product of the Akron Public School System who graduated from Hiram
MCNEAL THOMPSON- Akron native and currently an executive at Cleveland Clinic. He attended a Junior College prior receiving his degree at Boise State where he excelled at basketball
STEVE REYNOLDS- Owner of MKU Athletics and product of Akron Public School system. He is a graduate from Youngstown State where he excelled in football. Reynolds assist youth in reaching their goals through sports
AKRON UNIVERSITY FOOTBALL ASSISTANT COACH- We will look to secure one for the purpose of communicating the academic standard and how to get recruited
LARISSA BROWN- She works for Akron Public Schools as a Instruction Specialist. She is adept in assisting students athletes in their plight to qualify for the NCAA
