Abstract
In this bound volume the specific author makes every possible effort to cover the most appropriate and relevant materials considerations that are required to improve the likelihood of designing, developing and manufacturing successful products,. He is of the firm belief that such considerations are important in view of the role that materials play in the success of a product coupled with the numerous decisions that have to be taken during both product development and manufacture that exert a profound influence on performance, reliability and the cost of materials that are used in the product. It is the impression of the author that the vital decisions include the following: (i) product design concept selection, (ii) materials selection, (iii) manufacturing process selection, and (iv) selection of the supplier.
