Abstract
The Saturday Treatment Program (SatTP) is a ten-day treatment program that was designed through the Cleveland Clinic and takes place at a middle school on Saturdays during the school year. The program design follows that of the Summer Treatment Program, where counselors utilize a comprehensive point system that is part of a token economy to evaluate children’s behaviors (ADHD summer treatment program). I will be working with other counselors led by Dr. Hallie Fetterman Ph.D., a pediatric psychologist, to deliver the program and evaluate the behaviors of sixteen children. The program is split into three age groups: six through seven, eight through ten, and eleven through twelve. The treatment days with the children consist of a skill drill, an academic period, and a rec game. During these sessions, every counselor is delivering a point system that is updated on a point sheet. The kids can earn points for positive point system behaviors and lose points for negative point system behaviors. My role in the program is the Group One lead counselor during skill drills and rec activities, and a teaching assistant in the academic learning center. In this project, I will use my observations with the kids to make conclusions on how the token economy affected their behaviors and provide my own experiences as a group counselor.
