Abstract
For this project, I will research teacher perceptions of bills restricting the discussion of LGBTQ matters in the classroom. In Florida, a “don’t say gay” bill is already in effect. Since the bill in Florida was passed, 22 other states have proposed similar legislation. I will conduct a literature review on this topic. I will also interview teachers working in various northeast Ohio school districts. I will review the information from the literature review as well as the information given to me by the teachers in the interviews to create insight into the effect of these bills on teachers. I will draw conclusions from my research to determine the potential impact of bills restricting classroom discussion of LGBTQ matters on teachers.
