Abstract
Polyamide 6/clay nanocomposites of various clay concentrations were prepared by a single screw mixing extruder. The structure and morphology of nanocomposites were studied by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM). It was found that complete exfoliation of clay in PA 6 matrix was occurred at all clay concentrations as detected by TEM studies and disappearance of clay peak in XRD. An order of magnitude improvement in oxygen permeability was observed by increasing concentration clay.
