Abstract
Measurements of temperature traces in a rubber compound are carried out during injection molding cycle. The measurements are performed using a special temperature measuring device inserted into molds having a cylindrical cavity. The measurements indicate complex temperature traces with a minimum and a maximum during molding cycle. Calculations of temperature field are performed based on the finite difference solution of the two-dimensional transient heat conduction equation with convective heat transfer on the boundary. The predicted temperature traces, although qualitative, correctly simulate experimental observations.
