Abstract
In this study, we focused on the reactive processing of the P16,6/PP blends and the resulting structure-fracture property relationship. Notched Charpy impact strength and J-integral fracture toughness were determined for the impact modified P16,6/PP blends. A fracture mechanics approach based on the J-integral analysis was employed to measure the fracture initiation toughness, Jc, and the fracture propagation toughness characterized by the tearing modulus, TR, of the polymers. Negative deviations form component toughness were obtained but PP-rich blends exhibited large tearing modulus values.
