The Reverberating Effects of Obergefell in Family Courts

Abstract

This research collects the cases in family courts since the Supreme Court’s decision in Obergefell v. Hodges (2015) requiring marriage equality for same-sex marriages. This analysis addresses the courts’ treatment of same-sex marriage in family cases including issues of marriage, common-law marriage, parentage, adoption, divorce, custody and visitation, and probate.
