Description
Driving while Black, a term coined by the minority community themselves, focuses on the disproportionate number of traffic stops, questionable searches and inappropriate conduct directed at the minority community. What about thinking while Black? Being while Black? Studying while Black? Often we never take the time to teach boys how to respond during a police encounter. Hands Up! The Truth About Cops and Hip-Hop: Fighting Back without Throwing a Punch, will teach our boys of color how to respond to the police, which can ultimately save their lives. This interactive worship will provide participants with specific strategies to avoid confrontations with law enforcement, build confidence, while developing their own voices to speak out. It will also be a mixture of multi-media, critical thinking, poetry, song and exercises.
