Description

The title of my presentation is called "Your Responsibility is Your Life: The Key to Manhood".

The beginning of the presentation outlines the definition of masculinity/manhood, particularly stereotypes that society has labeled on men, which in terms shapes their perception of masculinity. Their views, their perspectives are main indicators which will be summarized and discussed in depth throughout the presentation. The presentation also composes of an article called Media and the Make-Believe Worlds of Boys and Girls, which was publicized in 2008, and it details the specifics of the accounts in defining masculinity (Maya Gotz & Dafna Lemish, 2008).

From that point of discussion, I will begin elaborating on my own experiences and encounters of different conversations regarding masculinity or manhood. Defining the identity crisis that has led to distorted imagery, unconducive trajectory, and public perceptions. The goal during this presentation is to challenge young men, whether high school or college students, to challenge their own definition or perspective of how they view masculinity. The presentation is not constructed to downplay any individual's perspective, but simply to help them understand where did it come from, what is their purpose for taking on the perspective they took on, and why is their definition of masculinity defined how it is defined.
