Abstract
This study investigates the relationship between students’ perceptions of diversity, equity, and inclusion and belonging within higher education institutions with the aim of understanding how the intersection of multiple marginalized identities influences their experience. Recognizing that belonging is a fundamental human need and crucial for well-being and academic success within higher education institutions, the study acknowledges that students who identify with multiple historically oppressed groups are at greater risk of negative outcomes. These findings reveal statistically different perceptions of diversity, equity, and inclusion and belonging among undergraduate students, with those identifying with multiple marginalized groups reporting a less positive experience than those without marginalized identities.
